SMSC and British Values
Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development is the over-arching umbrella that encompasses personal development across the whole curriculum.
At Hambling View, we put SMSC ‘at the heart’ of our school development. All of our staff and students are encouraged to think about the kind of people we aspire to be, the kind of community that we aspire to live in and the kind of world we aspire to create for ourselves and others around us.
Our curriculum and enrichment activities:
- Encourages reflection about our own and others beliefs (religious and otherwise) and we value the differences within our school and wider community
- Supports our students to recognise the difference between right and wrong and to understand the consequences of our actions for ourselves and others
- Aspires to develop our students interests in moral and ethical issues and promote healthy debate so that everyone learns to understand the viewpoints of others
- Provides a curriculum and other enrichment activities that allow our students to appreciate cultural influences that shape their lives and the lives of those around them
Our school values underpin all of our actions so that personal develop remains at the heart of all that we do!
